Refurnished turtles

Galapa-Go-Go

Here is another sample of the drawing retouch that I’m curently doing for the forthcoming Koopy Pets book. I was not satisfied with the baby turtles in the original drawing so here is a new bunch of passangers for Galap-A-Gogo.

It’s not that I did the kooky Pet drawings in a rush, but for some of the Kooky Pet drawings I wish I had more time to work in detail. So that’s basically what I’m doing now. I’m trying to make something very unique and well developed so it shines really bright when you can see it on paper. That’s just what the Kooky Pets expect from me…

As I kid, I once had two little galapago turtles and a big greek turtle as pets. The big one was always missing and I used to play hide and seek with her in the garden. One day she ran away and we never saw her again. I still wonder were she is…

Years later, the little galapagos died when I went on vacation with my family. I asked a friend to take care of them and they died of heat stroke. It was sad to get back home and miss them. So I guess this drawing is a little tribute to my turtle friends.

I love the edits, it gives your turtle a lot more dimension and personality. And makes me miss my old turtle, Squishy.

I love that you have limited the number of windows and mad the “riders” a little bigger. I see that one in the way back seems to be hiding just like the one that you lost in the garden.

  3. Beautiful Koldo!….you made the right decision!

Koldo! So good to hear from you. Your turtles are magnificent, & the kooky pets in general– what a great book concept!

Koldo Barroso is a brilliant and very original artist. His uniquely beautiful style of illustration is inspirational. You can feel the joy and fun that runs through all of his work.
We were blessed to have him do the illustration and cover design for our album "Life Stories" and couldn't have been more delighted. I feel his energy and wonderful artwork are as much a part of the album as the music itself, it so captured the mood and meaning of the project.

How delightful. Thank you for the all the care and skill you have put into this illustration. I was touched and intrigued by your particular interpretation of "C'est La Vie" to see how you had taken the piece beyond its original form of a study in melancholy.
