from a forthcoming graphic novel
Fauns, faeries, goblins, sorcerers, gentle giants… These are the type of creatures who populate this little book which compiles many of the drawings, sketches, and illustrations that I produced during the 1st stage of my forthcoming graphic novel “The Mummified Wood”.
Through these pages, you’ll have a special pass into my creative journey and meet an array of supernatural characters born from scratch. You’ll be also able to see the evolution of the different aesthetic proposals and techniques that I have experimented with.
But most significantly, here I’m sharing some of the personal experiences and events that have guided me along this journey, anecdotes, life stories and the omnipresent influence of the supernatural heritage from my ancestors, and other magical enounters.
Like the story of how my wife and I were intrigued by the presence of the mischievous goblin that haunted our house during the making of this book.
This book is a “making of” preview of “The Mummified Wood”: a long-term project for a modern dark fairy tale divided into three volumes that may a long time to complete. Supported by ShiftFWD, the creative and strategy house that my wife Naomi and I run together, we are experimenting and considering different formats for the project. The future holds exciting possibilities!
