This is a revision of a former post featuring the illustration of Boombaboomkers. Here is a little more about these magic creatures, which was formerly unpublished. I hope you enjoy it!

What is a ‘Boombakaboomker’?

Boombakaboomkers are a species of benefactor guide spirits who have the wonderful ability of finding in your dreams anything that you once lost. The name “Boombakaboomkers” is supposedly related to the sound that you can hear when they are seeking for things, running and playing their drums like chickens with their heads cut off all along the dreamlands that goes like “Boom-Baka-Boom”. Despite this, each Boombakaboomer is very proud to have their own signature beat.

The Boombakaboomkers are spirits of dead ancient shamans from different parts of the world, such as North America, Mexico, China, Scotland and the Basque Country. They all once decided to live in the dream reality to help out human people. If you are dreaming and you call them out, they’ll come up immediately to help you. They can find anything concrete you can think of, such as objects, people, animals, and even memories. Anything that you once lost and you really want to recover with all of your heart. But don’t try to ask them to find abstract things like time, love, and health because they will scratch their heads in confusion and beat it.

When a Boombakaboomker accepts to give you a ride he will lay on his knees and play a drumroll
until you climb on top of his head. Then, you better hold on tight and get ready because as soon as the drums start going like “Boom-baka-boom” you will start a mysterious journey to look for your desired subject along the dreamlands. In order to find it, the Boombakaboomkers will keep playing his drum non-stop in a hypnotic way until you sing along with it moved by an irresistible force. Both of you will enter a deep state of trance and you will connect with the conscience of whatever you’re looking for and will be guided to it. The closer you get to it, the louder the drums of the Boombakaboomker will resound.

Very often, the Boombakaboomkers can’t finish their job in just one dream, but they will come back to you if they’re called again and the journey will continue exactly in the same spot where it ended. Many people start long journeys with Boombakaboomkers and they never get to call them back to finish their task. It may be because they loose interest for it. Many people forget about their last dream when they wake up. This is always something very sad for all Boombakaboomkers, who love to see the people’s dreams fulfilled.

Other times, their work gets spoiled by the interference of The Mesmerizer, a dreamland creature who rips off the people’s dreams and erases them from their memory to collect them. He has a predilection for dreams related to Boombakaboomkers because he is always trying to study the way they operate for his own knowledge.

The Boombakaboomkers can take the shape of different animals but they mostly keep a human form to avoid scaring people away. Seeing a Boombakaboomker in a dream can get as traumatic as seeing your great grandma wearing rolls and cucumber face mask mask in the middle of the night!

Most usually, they are recognized by their big and hairy bodies, short legs and disproportionate noses. And their huge heads usually have horns and big ears so the people can hold on tight during their journeys.

Habits of Boombakaboomkers
Boombakabakaboom are mostly lonely creatures devoted to their job. They will always come to help you whenever you call them. Despite this, they never fail to attend the yearly pow-wow where they gather to relate their most important adventures of the year. They make a big circle, play drums all together and dance to every story told. Human people are supposedly welcomed to their feast if they find the way to it in dreams. But calling out a Boombakaboomker to find “a lost Boombakaboomker pow-pow” won’t work just because that day of the year they’re all on holiday!

Species of Boombakaboomkers
There are innumerable types of Boombakaboomkers, as many as individual creatures since each one of them decides to take the shape of a different animal. The most common ones are related to the family of Cerdivae (deers).

Boomdeer-baboom is a specie of Boombakaboomker specialized in finding lost toys. When he was human, that was in the late 1800′s, he was a very poor boy who lived in the streets of London. He once found a broken toy drum that had been abandoned by a rich boy in Kensington Gardens and he fixed it. This little drum became his only toy ever and the most important source of happiness from his entire life. Sadly, one night he lost it while sleeping in the streets of Whitechapel and never saw it again. Ever since, he spent his whole life trying to recover the precious drum. That’s why you can see a blue and melancholic and appearance on his face and the reason why he decided to become a Boombakaboomker in the dream lands: to help other people find their lost toys.

Boombaka-bunn is a very popular specie of Boombakaboomker whose ears adopt the shape of a bunny. He also uses the rabbit’s instinct to smell things from a long distance, which is really helpful when looking for things that smell. He usually plays two small drums instead of one and is well known for the hot spicy rhythms he plays and the funny way he runs and jumps ariound like a rabbit. He is a real music lover! It’s been said that when he was human he used to be a renowned jazz drummer and, as a matter of fact, he is specialized in finding lost songs that people forgot and would like to hear again. As legend has it, he has helped out quite a few famous musicians to recover songs that they wrote and later forgot, but Boombaka-bunn always laughs and denies it when he’s asked about it.

Boom-bababoom is one of the most favorite Boombakaboomkers for all kids. He has a fun and jolly personality and he is pretty well known for his ability to make rhythms by farting while he drums and runs. Pretty gross, isn’t it? Anyway, his farts are not so always stinky because they smell just like whatever he’s looking for at the moment. He always says this helps him to concentrate in his search. Although his legs are very short and he can’t run very fast, he is considered a sort of Sherlock Holmes of the Boombakaboomkers, who has beaten all of the records of finding lost things in a short span of time. His specialty is finding old friends, which means that his farts smell just like the people he’s looking for. Sometimes it can smell like a perfumed lady and sometimes like a sweaty construction worker. There is a story that tell how once he was called for help by an old lady who wanted to find her youngest kid after some 35 years. The kid was actually a pig farmer at the time and the smell of farts from Boom-bababoom where so unbearable along the way that the poor old lady jumped from his head in the middle of the dream, woke up and never ever showed up again.

Boom-baka-hog is known as funny little fellow who laughs in a contagious and ridiculous way and takes the form of a hedgehog. He uses a round native Indian style drum whose beat he combines with his rhythmic ridiculous laughter. Many people call Boom-baka-hog in dreams just for the fun of it, but he usually delays too much in his quest and very often people fall to the floor in fits of laughter. He is specialized in finding lost paperwork so if you are in a big hurry you better call some other Boombakaboomker besides him.
